Islamic group’s regional center to be based in Baku
The Eurasia Regional Center of the Islamic
Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYFDC) has
been established in Baku. A relevant agreement was signed as a
session of the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) Foreign
Ministers Council opened in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, on
Tuesday.
The agreement was co-signed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Elshad Iskandarov, the Secretary-General of the Youth Forum, according to the Forum.
The Baku-based regional center will implement ICYFDC programs in the CIS states represented in the OIC, Central and Eastern Europe countries, and coordinate the work of youth organizations representing Muslim minorities in these countries.
The Eurasia Regional Center is the first OIC institution to be based in Azerbaijan, and it will open up broad opportunities for the country’s close cooperation with the OIC and its member organizations.
The Istanbul-headquartered ICYFDC was established in 2005.
