Jordan`s king praises co-op with Azerbaijan
Jordan and Azerbaijan have always supported one
another on the worldwide scale, Jordan`s King Abdullah II said
after a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku at the
weekend.
King Abdullah II, who paid his third visit to Baku on Saturday and Sunday, told the press following the talks that the two countries are enjoying broad cooperation, voicing confidence that the constructive discussions held with the Azerbaijani leader and the documents signed would strengthen bilateral relations further.
"I believe that we will be able to outline areas of special cooperation in the transport, agriculture, energy and the services sector," he said.
Jordan and Azerbaijan signed two documents during King Abdullah`s visit – a memorandum on international cooperation between the two countries` governments and a document covering interaction on work with youths.
The king said his talks with the Azerbaijani president focused on regional and international issues, in particular, on ways of restoring comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
"Achieving progress in our efforts aimed at a settlement of the Israel-Palestine conflict on the basis of the two-state option is an urgent matter for everyone. This should serve to the establishment of a sovereign and steadfast Palestinian state living peacefully and safely alongside the Israeli state. Resolving this conflict is of special importance for restoring stability and security. We discussed this issue with our brethren in Baku."
King Abdullah also held a meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizada and toured an exhibition displaying goods manufactured by the enterprises of Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Defense Industry.
President Aliyev told reporters that the discussions with the Jordanian king were very successful. He said political dialog between the two countries was very active and proceeded dynamically, pledging that a greater emphasis will be placed on economic collaboration in the coming years.
"There are already initial contacts between representatives of our business circles. But I believe that we should avail of our potential more broadly. As part of this visit we discussed practical aspects of our economic cooperation and various investment projects, and we intend to implement them in the near future," Aliyev said.*
