U.S. keen on ‘further strategic partnership’ with Azerbaijan
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian
Affairs, Tina Kaidanow, who has paid a short visit to Baku, said
"her main message" was that the United States is paying close
attention to its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and intends
to further it.
"A new US ambassador to Azerbaijan will be appointed soon, and I
would like to point out that the delays in this appointment have no
bearing on the U.S.-Azerbaijan strategic partnership. This is
merely a bureaucracy issue. And it will be resolved soon,"
Kaidanow, who was in the Azerbaijani capital Wednesday, told
reporters in conclusion of the visit. She added that she wouldn’t
be able to name the new ambassador.
Kaidanow said her talks in Baku with the president and foreign
minister focused on US-Azerbaijani relations. "My meetings were
very constructive and we will continue moving forward in this
area."*
