Azeri regions hit by heavy rains and snow
Two days of heavy rains and snowfall in Azerbaijan have made things difficult for the Zardab and Guba regions. Guba is located 170 kilometers from Baku, while Zardab is 320 kilometers away.
About 600 homes were flooded in Zardab, the executive power of the region reported. Six houses and basements of residential and administrative buildings were flooded and destroyed. About 25 villages of the area surrounding the Kura and Garasu rivers were inundated. About 2,000 hectares of grain crops are under water, officials said.
Tensions were particularly high in the Alibayli village. Currently, the bridge over the Garasu river is under the threat of collapse.
Heavy snowfall was reported in several highland villages of the Guba region Sunday, the district executive power said. The wintry weather has blocked the Guba-Hynalyg road and traffic was suspended in 34 mountainous villages. Also, power outages occurred in some villages of Guba.*
