Changes offered in Minsk Group’s make-up
A senior Azerbaijani official has said the issue of replacing co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, a team of US, Russian and French mediators brokering settlement to the country’s two decade-long conflict with Armenia, has come to the agenda, expressing Baku’s discontent with the mediating group.
Ali Hasanov, the head of the Presidential Administration socio-political department, told reporters that this discontent is due to the fact that the conflict settlement has been deadlocked for many years. Therefore, proposals are being made to alter the Minsk Group’s composition. Notably, Turkey’s co-chairmanship, the European Union’s representation in the institution and other changes are being offered. For instance, France could represent not only itself but also the EU.
"There are plenty of proposals, and the credentials to evaluate them belong to the OSCE," Hasanov added.*
