Azerbaijan, Russia strike deal on border delimitation
Azerbaijan and Russia on Friday signed an agreement on delineating
the two countries’ shared border, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign
Minister Khalaf Khalafov has said in conclusion of a two-day
meeting of the joint taskforce held in northern Azerbaijan.
Despite lengthy talks and extensive research by experts, disputed areas remained between the two countries to this day.
Khalafov said agreement had been reached upon joint use of the crossing above the borderline Samur river, as well as upon the delimitation of the disputed areas lying along the border in the Khachmaz and Balakan regions. Also, it was agreed that both Azerbaijan and Russia will use Samur waters in equal volumes. *
