Trespassers’ attempt to enter Azerbaijan thrwarted
A group of three persons was prevented from illegally crossing into
Azerbaijan from neighboring Georgia in the Balakan district on
Tuesday evening, according to the State Border Service.
The trespassers ignored the frontier guards’ warning and order to stop, and threatened them with cold weapons. The frontier guards had to use weapons, wounding one of the violators. Taking advantage of the complicated relief, all the trespassers managed to escape back to Georgia.
Meanwhile, Georgia’s Rustavi 2 TV channel reported that an 17-year-old resident of the country’s Signakh region who grazes cattle tried to take back a cow that had crossed into the Azerbaijani side of the border. The Azerbaijani frontier guards reportedly opened fire at him without a warning, and the man died.*
