NATO backs OSCE-brokered solution on Garabagh: ambassador
NATO supports settling the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over
Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh peacefully and within the OSCE, which is
brokering the peace process through its Minsk Group, the Romanian
Ambassador in Baku Nikolae Ureche has said.
Ureche told the Strategic Research Center under the Azerbaijani
President Friday that the long-standing dispute is affecting the
entire region.
"Any given conflict is a catastrophe, and NATO wants this problem
to be resolved strictly by peaceful means," Ureche said, adding
that the alliance is not directly involved in the ongoing peace
talks, as the process is underway within the Minsk Group.
The ambassador added that NATO is cooperating with Azerbaijan and
Armenia in a balanced manner, as both South Caucasus republics are
the military bloc’s partners.*
