Turkey envoy hands Erdogan’s letter to Aliyev
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s special envoy,
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu, who is
visiting Azerbaijan, submitted Erdogan’s letter to President Ilham
Aliyev on Friday.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijani president spoke about the status of negotiations to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict.
Sinirlioglu, in turn, informed the president about the current state of relations between Turkey and Armenia, the two neighbors whose relations have been marred by long-standing enmity.
The parties also explored prospects for further developing the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Prior to his Baku visit, Sinirlioglu headed to Yerevan on Wednesday where he presented Prime Minister Erdogan’s personal letter to President Serzh Sarkisian. During his visit to Armenia, Sinirlioglu also secured agreement on a meeting between Erdogan and Sarkisian, due April 12-13 on the sidelines of a summit on nuclear security in Washington.*
