The State Border Service of Azerbaijan has flatly denied any role in the alleged wounding of an Armenian soldier in a border area, Azernews reports, citing the agency.

“The information, disseminated in the Armenian media that on May 28, a serviceman of the Armenian Armed Forces was seriously wounded on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border as a result of an alleged violation of the ceasefire by Azerbaijan, is wide off the mark and bears no relation to reality,” the press service of the State Border Service reports.

The service stated that the Azerbaijani units, carrying out defense and protection of the state border in the territory of Razdara village of Zangilan District of Azerbaijan, did not open fire in the direction of Nerkin And village of Syunik Region of Armenia, where an Armenian soldier was wounded.

“At the same time, as a result of observations carried out by the units of the State Border Service, violations of discipline by servicemen in a state of intoxication were recorded at the location of the units of the Armenian Armed Forces, and at 1037 hours, a shot was heard in a tent, after 8 minutes - 2 more shots, and soon after that, 1 person was taken out of a tent and evacuated. The observation, analysis of photos and videos, as well as other materials show that the incident took place between the Armenian military,” the Border Service added.
