Clinton says rights records to improve after Garabagh solution
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that the human rights situation will improve both in Azerbaijan and Armenia after their long-standing conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh is settled.
Asked by Radio Liberty about her views on an alleged opinion in Azerbaijan that the US government is sacrificing human rights for the sake of its energy interests, Clinton said: "We are familiar with the human rights situation in Azerbaijan. We are particularly following the situation with the arrest of two young bloggers and are very concerned with their arrest. The two youngsters were apprehended due to having written something on the internet. But for the time being, we have focused our attention on the Garabagh conflict settlement. We believe that once the Garabagh problem has been resolved, the human rights situation both in Azerbaijan and Armenia will improve."*
