Garabagh mediators due on visit in late March: Russia
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group brokering settlement to the
Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh are due
to visit the region in late March or early April, the Russian
Foreign Ministry’s spokesman has said.
Andrei Nesterenko told a news conference Thursday that in an effort to bring the sides’ positions closer, the mediators are expected to hold talks in Baku and Yerevan as well as in Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh, referring to an occupied Azerbaijani region where ethnic Armenians are running a self-proclaimed republic.
Nesterenko said an updated version of the peace outline dubbed the Madrid principles, submitted by the co-chairs to Azerbaijan and Armenia two months ago, is presently under discussion, and the intermediaries are enquiring about the sides’ feedback on the proposals.*
