Italian parliament sets up friendship group with Azerbaijan
A group on friendship with Azerbaijan has been set up in the
Italian parliament, says an Azerbaijani lawmaker, who chairs the
Milli Majlis parliamentary group on friendship with Italy.
Azer Karimli, who was part of an Azerbaijani delegation that has visited Rome, said Italy attaches great importance to Azerbaijan, and the establishment of the friendship group is a result of that.
Karimli noted that chairman of the group has not yet been elected, but Italian Sen. Rossana Boldi, President of the Committee on EU policies, is expected to take the post.
The Azerbaijani MP said that though the group has just been set up, a significant number of Milli Majlis members and Italian senators have expressed their interest in being part of it.
While in the Italian capital, Azerbaijani lawmakers held meetings with the group’s members. Further, Italian MPs represented in the group are expected to visit Azerbaijan in April.*
