Currency exchange employee stripped off $30,000
An employee of a currency exchange station was robbed in Baku early
on Thursday. Two unidentified individuals intimidated Gurban
Hasanov with a weapon, taking away $30,000.
Hasanov told the Nizami district police that the robbery took place as he was leaving his home on the Gara Garayev Street. The criminals who could not enter the coded-entrance building block where he lived had waited for him outside. They threatened Hasanov with a gun as soon as he came out, grabbed the money, got into a Mercedes car and escaped.
A similar robbery was committed in the Binaghadi district of the capital several days ago. Two armed burglars intimidated employee Yashar Ahmadov by opening fire at his vehicle and took away $100,000.
Both crimes were presumably committed by the same group, investigators say.
