Song contest alternative to Eurovision planned
The Turk Music Box channel has been broadcasting in Turkey for a
month.
The TV channel's general director, Naim Burak, told a press conference in Baku on Thursday that the channel would broadcast songs and music from all Turkic-speaking states.
"The channel is in fact becoming an alternative to MTV in the Turkic world," Burak said.
"We are going to move to cable broadcasting in Europe and the United States. Our aim is to promote the art of the Turkic world throughout the world," he said.
Turk Music Box is also going to launch a Turkvision project.
"This will not be an alternative to Eurovision, but we think that it will be an important international project," Burak said.
He said 19 countries would initially be invited to compete in Turkvision. *
