Lukashenko to visit Azerbaijan next year
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is expected to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan in the first half of 2010, Belarusian Ambassador in Baku Nikolay Paskevich has said.
Paskevich told a news conference Friday that this will be a reciprocal visit, as President Ilham Aliyev invited his counterpart to his country during a recent visit to Belarus.
Paskevich did not specify the documents to be signed by the two countries but said work was underway on ten documents.
He noted that bilateral trade turnover has surged 11 times to exceed $100 million in the past five years.
The ambassador added that during President Lukashenko’s visit a center for Belarusian studies will be opened at the Baku Slavic University.*
