Erdogan says will discuss Garabagh with Obama
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss the
Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh with US
President Barack Obama on Monday, he told the Baku-based ANS TV
channel.
Erdogan described the Garabagh problem as "a bleeding wound", saying it was high time it healed.
"We are telling American officials straight away: if you achieve a Garabagh settlement, you will have resolved the Turkey-Armenia problem. But if you don’t succeed in solving it, you won’t be able to solve the Turkish-Armenian issue either."
According to the Turkish prime minister, the conflict will be settled if the United States, Russia and France – the three countries co-chairing the mediating OSCE Minsk Group – step up their efforts.
The US State Department has confirmed that Erdogan will raise the Garabagh problem during his meetings in Washington.*
