UN debate on Garabagh put off on Baku’s request: official
Discussions on the situation in the Armenia-occupied territories of
Azerbaijan at the 64th session of the United Nations General
Assembly, scheduled for Thursday, have been postponed upon Baku’s
request, according to Elkhan Polukhov, the spokesman for the
Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry.
Polukhov said the discussions have been rescheduled for technical reasons, noting that this does not mean the issue has been removed from the session’s agenda.
"The new date of the hearings is now being specified. This issue will be on the agenda until next September, and it is always possible to put it on discussion," he said.
Earlier, the UN press-center said the discussions had been most likely postponed due to the ongoing negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on settling the Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict.*
