IRI may stay in Azerbaijan
The US International Republican Institute (IRI) that earlier
announced it was shutting down its office in Baku from November 30
over financial issues has said it might continue operating in
Azerbaijan.
Jake Jones, the head of the IRI office, said the institution, which is implementing a project on Azerbaijan’s December 23 municipal elections, will work in the country until January 31, while its further operation depends on the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
"Everything is up to USAID. I mean, there is still a chance our institute will stay in Azerbaijan," said Jones.*
