Yerevan confirms Aliyev-Sarkisian talks due in Germany
Azerbaijani and
Armenian Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sarkisian are expected
to discuss the Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict in Germany at the
weekend, Armenian media quoted Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian
as saying.
According to Nalbandian, France, which co-chairs the OSCE Minsk
Group brokering the peace process, along with Russia and the United
States, has confirmed that the next meeting between Presidents
Aliyev and Sarkisian is due in Munich.
Azerbaijan and Armenia fought a lengthy war that ended with the
signing of a cease-fire in 1994, but Armenia continues to occupy
Upper Garabagh and seven other Azerbaijani districts in defiance of
international law. Peace talks have not yet resulted in resolving
the conflict.*
