Azerbaijan’s leading cellular operator, Azercell, has organized an advanced training session jointly with the Press Council in an effort to increase the awareness and skills of local media representatives in the area of business journalism.
The master course, "Business news writing and editing", was held by Alexander Strownick, who has long worked in several European countries both as a journalist and a consultant on communications. The course focused on ways of selecting headlines, verifying facts, differentiating facts and analysis, as well as conducting Internet research.
The course included training projects and interactive games. Participants wrote stories over a specified timeframe and took live interviews.
Azercell has, so far, implemented a number of projects aiming to boost the development of media in Azerbaijan. The company has conducted numerous events seeking to improve the skills of local journalists, including seminars on business journalism.*
