About 335 million manats will be allocated from the state budget to increase the minimum salary in Azerbaijan in 2019, Vusal Gasimli, executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, told reporters, Trend informs on Feb. 9.

In subsequent years, this figure will be increased to 400 million manats, Gasimli said.

"The increase in the minimum salary will cover 600,000 people, of which 450,000 work in the public sector. While 270 million manats will be used to increase salaries of civil servants, the rest will be spend to to ensure insurance and tax payments. Salaries of civil servants will increase by about 30 percent, while salaries in the private sector will increase by 20 percent. Thus, the average salary in the country will increase by 10 percent," he said.

From March 1, 2019, the minimum salary, will be increased by 38.5 percent (from 130 to 180 manats), he added.

Over the past 15 years, the average salary in the country has increased sevenfold, and the minimum salary went up 6.5 times.
