Russia is preparing a trilateral summit with Iran and Azerbaijan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference dedicated to 2018.
"It is our turn to host a trilateral summit," Lavrov added, Trend reports. "We are preparing such a summit. I assure you that it will be held."
As for other possible formats with the participation of Azerbaijan, Lavrov noted that so far no practical talks about this have been held.
“We need to look whether these formats will have added value,” he added. “That’s because a format for the sake of a format, probably, isn’t something that will meet the interests of Azerbaijan, Russia and other possible participants. But, I repeat, if there is added value of one form of our interaction or another, we, of course, will gladly consider such an opportunity.”
The previous trilateral summit of the presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran was held in Tehran in November 2017.
