Schools to be guarded
Azerbaijan`s educational institutions will be
guarded at the expense of the state starting from the new academic
year. The Education Ministry has made relevant arrangements with
law enforcement agencies, Minister Misir Mardanov told
reporters.
``Parents should be absolutely sure that the well-being of their children will be protected by the state in all educational institutions of Azerbaijan,`` Mardanov pledged.
``I can`t specify now how much will be spent on this, as the number of such institutions is close to 7,000,`` he added.
The need to tighten security at the country`s educational institutions arose after a shooting rampage in Baku on April 30 when a gunman killed 12 people and wounded 13 others at the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy and then took his life.
