Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Gian Luigi Mascia`s
diplomatic mission has expired and he is preparing to leave the
country in September. However, a new ambassador has not been
appointed yet, a source from the embassy said.
Mascia has been in Azerbaijan since 2005, succeeding Margherita Costa as ambassador.
In April, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree naming Mrs. Costa Azerbaijan`s honorary consul in Italy.
