Top investigator faces graft charges

Mahir Naghiyev, who was in charge of extraordinary affairs at the investigation department, was stripped off his rank and dismissed, official sources said.
Investigators at the Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office have established that while holding his post, Naghiyev had taken bribes from two persons to avoid their apprehension. He is also believed to have received a 0.12 hectare summer house area in the Yasamal district of the capital as a sweetener from an individual who had been wanted based on a relevant criminal case.
