Gov`t limits trade over swine flu threat
Azerbaijan has suspended import and export operations with the countries where swine flu has been discovered, Minister for Agriculture Ismat Abbasov has said.
Abbasov told reporters that, to date, swine flu has been revealed in 21 countries, however, the situation is stable in Azerbaijan.
Although there are no concerns over swine flu in Azerbaijan, pre-emptive measures are being taken to prevent the potential spread of the virus to the country. "Continuous monitoring is underway to find out if this disease exists in Azerbaijan," the minister said.
Only imports of animal products from the Americas have been temporarily banned.
