One unexploded ordnance was found in Jojug Marjanli village of Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil region, National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on November 29.
Over the past day, an area of 56,995 square meters was cleared in the village, and 20,200 square meters were prepared for cleaning by special mechanical means.
As a result, ANAMA discovered an unexploded ordnance – TM-62 mine amplifier, and removed it for neutralization.
Last week, the Agency found and removed three UXOs in Jojug Marjanli, including two anti-tank unguided missiles PQ-7 and a mine amplifier TM-62.
Currently, ANAMA continues clearing of Jojug Marjanli from mines and UXOs. The operation involves 56 people.
The village was liberated by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the Armenian occupation in April 2016. In late January 2017, President Ilham Aliyev ordered to restore the village.
During the first phase of restoration, 50 private houses, a school, mosque, electric substation, hydrometeorological station, highway and other relevant infrastructure were constructed in Jojug Marjanli. The village was provided with gas, electricity and water supply.
The second phase of construction and restoration work and work on improvement and creation in Jojug Marjanli started on June 15 this year, and currently it is nearing completion.
