Azerbaijan`s Education Ministry and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have signed Records of Discussion of the KOICA Grant Project titled “The Project for Teachers’ Capacity Building and Establishment of Educational Information System for the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

The document was undersigned by Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and KOICA Country Director Choi Yonjae in Baku, Azertac reported.

The objectives of the project are to improve the capacity building of teachers and quality of class by establishing the online e-learning system for training of teachers, and contribute to the human resource development of Azerbaijani teachers by sharing the know-how of Korean technology and development experience.

The project also aims to increase qualifications and skills of the Ministry of Education officials and specialists with the transfer of necessary technology, know-how through the invitational training programs in Korea and dispatch of Korean experts to Azerbaijan.

The project will be implemented within 3 years.

Jabbarov, addressing the event, highlighted what has been done in Azerbaijan to modernize the education system and ensure the application of information technologies in education.

The minister said that teachers` new role and professional skills depend on how they apply information technologies in the teaching process.

He said ICT skills ensure visibility and create an environment of dialogue in teaching. Mikayil Jabbarov said that this process has been boosted by the work carried out by the Ministry of Education in recent years to improve teachers` ICT skills, create ICT infrastructure and expand the electronic resource base.

The minister stressed the importance of Azerbaijan-Korea relations in the field of education and information and communication technologies as well as projects jointly implemented by the two countries.

Jabbarov hailed Azerbaijan`s cooperation with Korea, which he described as one of the world`s leading ICT nations.

KOICA implements Korea’s grant aid and technical cooperation programs. The agency focuses on promoting sustainable development, strengthening partnerships with developing partners, and enhancing the local ownership of beneficiaries, as well as global concerns such as the environment, poverty reduction, and gender mainstreaming.
