Azerbaijan will host the Sea Cup – 2017 contest within the International Army Games – 2017.

A press conference in connection with the beginning of the Sea Cup – 2017 was held at the headquarters of the Azerbaijani Naval Forces on August 1.

The first rank captain and main judge of the Sea Cup, Shahin Mammadov, addressing the press conference, said that the contest is attended by the Navies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan. Moreover, representatives of the Armed Forces of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will observe the competition.

Mammadov stressed that the Sea Cup will be attended by 300 personnel. The contest will include three stages – artillery firing, ship damage control, ship crew skills and rescue contest.

“For holding the competition on a high level, port bridges, training complexes and other training centers are in a state of full readiness,” said Mammadov, adding that the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry created all necessary conditions for holding the contest at a high level and transparently.

A number of vessels will be involved in the Sea Cup – 2017. These are the G-124, G-122 frigates of the Azerbaijani Navy, small missile ship Grad Sviyazhsk of the Russian Navy’s Caspian Flotilla and the SB-45 rescue tug, missile boats Peykan and Jowshan of the Iranian Navy, and missile and artillery ships Kazakhstan, Sariarka and hydrographic vessel Zhayik of the Kazakh Navy.

During the press conference, head of the of the Kazakh delegation, first rank captain Yermek Baygabulov and head of the Iranian delegation, first rank captain Seydi Mahmud Amuzesh noted the high level of preparation for the competition.

The International Army Games – 2017 started in Russia on July 29. The Games, which are attended by more than 150 teams from 28 countries, will be held in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China until August 12.

Azerbaijani servicemen will compete in the Tank biathlon, Field Kitchen, Sniper Frontier and Masters of Artillery Fire competitions of the Army Games.

Last year, Azerbaijan successfully performed in the Army Games. Participating in the contests Tank biathlon and Caspian Cup of the international military competition, representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces became the winners of various stages in both categories. Azerbaijani military seamen ranked second at the Caspian Cup 2016 and were awarded with special medals.
