The story about how the subject of Antarctica aroused noble feelings in “Turanic penguins”

18 March 2009 15:57 (UTC+04:00)

Azerbaijan is distinguished for its biological diversity of species. But it so turned out that some of them were destined to become extinct. For instance, Turanic tiger (Panthera tigris virgata Illiger) was last seen back in 1968. Nowadays it is the irresistible fact that this species no longer exists on earth. However, there are some other species whose status is questionable and no precise information can be obtained about them. Along with thoughts about their existence there are also suppositions about their extinction.
This can be applied to Turanic hyena or, for example, to little studied "Turanic penguin". There is little evidence about these creatures that lead an enclosed life on account of having lost connections with its generic brothers and sisters. It is even believed that they have also become extinct. Nevertheless, "Azerbaijan-Antarctica" expedition which was the first to have ever been launched stirred the "Turanic penguin" that had been out of sight until then and alarmed this little group making them seek contacts with their relatives in Antarctica. They were so much excited to disseminate information about interesting and amazing life of their fellows in Antarctica which is remarkably different from their own dull and miserable being. This has proved conjectures about the existence of the "Turanic penguins" in our days.
They proudly and joyfully welcomed achievements of their affiliates in Antarctica in publications disseminated by them. Naturally, this has attracted attention to this species which is rare and small in number and made them an object of studies. Let us have a look what findings the study has made:
By making them to adjust to a changing environment, the inclement natural habitat developed unordinary features in the "Turanic penguins". Indeed, they have continued to remain birds, but the "Turanic penguins" did not have the least idea about the fact that normal penguins cannot fly. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that they are able to fly: penguin is the penguin.
However, while normal penguins have long submitted to the fact that they will never fly and having a clear understanding of this everyday mince to the sea to eat some fresh fish, the "Turanic penguins" spend time in jumping up and down secure in the belief that these jumps are nothing but flight. Their number is too small and in addition they do not have a teacher who could explain the core difference between jumping and flight. They still remember their belongingness within birds and all of them picked out bird names. Even the second in the hierarchy of the "Turanic penguins" picked out the name of a large bird: Leshyeyen (Vulture). In fact, this poor penguin has picked out a name which is the best match for it. Being unable to fly as opposed to a true vulture while isolated from normal penguins and having hard times in finding fish to consume because of its shortage this penguin has no choice but to eat carrion. By raising awareness of advantages of this lifeway among the young penguins whose number is quite small it brings up a new generation of non-flying scavenger-penguins.

Whatever high the degree of resemblance in appearance between these and the Antarctica penguins is, processes of progress are also forming some distinguishing features in the former. Some of them are thin and slightly elongated with a face burnt by the Caspian sun. However, rounded, pot-bellied specimens with a big bill also occur among them. The burnt face "Turanic penguins" are sometimes called as mustached penguins. This is because they hide their toothbrush under their bill. There is no need to say which color the toothbrush of the scavenger is.
The scavenger-penguin mentioned above as an example takes efforts to establish links with representatives of its species. It has learnt how to write and also learnt English which is the penguin’s favorite. It even made up an excellent signature. Everything written by itself it signs as Leshyeyen (Vulture) Penguinsoy Hajiyalagov. It likes to fly (i.e. to jump up to a height of 40 cm). During the so called flights it proudly likens itself to those capable of flying in the sky and abandons itself to romantic thoughts about its own superiority (say what you like, but it has quite a mobile mind – hovering in a 40 cm jump it manages to do some hard thinking about lots of things).
Generally speaking, bad qualities are not inherent in the "Turanic penguins" and only good features can be attributed to them. They not only can jump up to a height of 40 cm (sorry, not to jump but to fly), but they also lack a feeling of envy – they do not know what it is – it is because of having no knowledge about the feeling of envy they, in a noble manner, involuntarily envy others. The peculiarity of this type of envy lies with the fact that while others accept it as nothing but envy, these penguins themselves do not understand it. This is because, as has been said above, they are not aware what envy is and they also read somewhere that penguins are not envious at all. As a rule, they live isolated from each other, therefore it still remains a mystery for science as to how they breed. In fact, the well-known penguins have penguin kids, although this penguin kids are not so little. They are larger than the penguins themself, playful and waggish.
In short, hoisting the flag of Azerbaijan in Antarctica has brought about a great liveliness among the "Turanic penguins".
It is said that the "Turanic penguin" has no nationality. Despite this fact, a high national spirit was observed in the "Turanic penguin" (in the end they managed to disseminate turanistic ideas among a group of Antarctica penguins). Now, as a result of the "Turanic penguins" activities they have a number of followers in Antarctica. These followers all of a sudden discovered the truth and the "Turanic penguins" are likely to be awarded grants soon.
As has been said, the subject of Antarctica aroused noble feelings in "Turanic penguins". It is not easy to explain these feelings. In any event, we can definitely state that it is neither envy nor jealousy and nor slander. Honestly speaking, this can neither be called a lack of upbringing (everybody knows that penguins and most likely"Turanic penguins" are well brought up). These penguins have nothing to do with such things as betrayal, making use of friendship for selfish needs, insatiability. They will never have an eye to the property of others and, as a whole, to what cannot belong to them by the law. As compared to the elongated penguins, these characteristics are more typical to the big-billed rounded penguins.

These penguins never worm their way into the confidence of those with oppositional views in order to serve as informants of special service agencies, i.e. they are not agent provocateurs, but rather continue to remain penguins and do penguinism as true penguins.
The "Turanic penguins" has one more feature which is common to Armenians. Similar to Armenians who try to find Armenian roots in every prominent and worldwide known person the "Turanic penguins" find penguins in everybody who they like and who they are in sympathy with. Armenians cannot be forgiven for that but it is forgivable in the instance of the penguins. It should be understood that this species might become extinct right tomorrow. Just between you and I, a very ideal presentation of the penguin has been made. Most probably, they will like it themselves.
In the end, I even pitied the "Turanic penguins" at seeing how much pain and grievance they bear in their sole. I interrupted my studies at a halfway and got into thoughts wiping my eyes which shed a few tears. Let me find a vessel or, better, an aircraft. Let us give a chance for these poor penguins to fly in the sky at least once in their life. Let them feel at least once and understand what the flight is and how far it is different from jumping and let them fly on this aircraft to their brothers and sisters.
Do you think they will agree?
Hey, Leshyeyen (Vulture) Penguinsoy Hajiyalagov! Well, do you think you will fly there?
