Azerbaijan’s Parliament held next plenary session on May 16, and discussed 10 issues.

The MPs considered amendments to the Urban Planning and Construction Code, Administrative Offences Code, as well as Laws "On Passports", "On Telecommunications", "On freedom of religion”, “On Tobacco use” and more.

The Parliament adopted the Law “On Restriction of the Use of Tobacco Products”. The bill specifies places where smoking cigarettes is prohibited.

To protect the environment and prevent diseases caused by tobacco smoking, the relevant executive authority will be able to prohibit smoking in certain areas, buildings and facilities, to change tax and pricing policies to reduce the demand for tobacco products, prohibit or restrict the sale and tobacco advertising, etc.

The Parliament also reduced the duration of the construction permit through adopting changes to the law on Urban Planning and Construction Code. The changes will greatly simplify urban planning standards.

Moreover, customers will be able to get initial information about construction parameters by applying to the relevant authorities before building a facility. Customers should get responses to these requests within 10 days.
