Azerbaijani students have claimed two medals at the 51st International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad in Astana.
Nearly 120 students from 20 countries participated in the Olympiad.
Nariman Mirishov, student of Classic Gymnasium No 160 won silver, while student of Istak lyceum Ramil Babazade grabbed bronze.
The Azerbaijani students have won four gold, seven silver and 30 bronze medals at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiads so far.
The winners will earn the right to enroll at Lomonosov Moscow State University without passing entrance exams.
The International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad plays a crucial role in the system of high-level subject competitions. It was created to identify the most talented pupils of secondary educational institutions, to develop their creative abilities, to support gifted children as well as to strengthen the united educational space in the CIS and Baltic countries.Since 2004, in addition to students of the CIS countries and the Baltic States, Mendeleev Olympiad has been attended by participants from Bulgaria, Macedonia and Romania.
