Azerbaijan's population ups by 0.1pct

The number of Azerbaijan’s population continues to grow, as the figure increased by 0.1 percent or by 13,686 people in March, 2017.
The State Statistics Committee reported that as of March 1, 2017, the number of Azerbaijani population reached 9,832,667 people.
The density of population made 113 persons in 1 km². About 53 percent of the population lives in cities, while 47 percent in villages.
In January - February 2017, 24,648 babies, including 424 twins, 12 triplets, were born in the country. Of this, 52.7 percent are boys, 47.3 percent - girls. There were 1006 women for every 1000 men.
At the same time, 11,070 deaths were recorded in the reporting period.
In January – February 2017, 8,476 marriages and 2,422 divorces were recorded. Some 306 persons appealed to the State Migration Service to live in Azerbaijan, 198 persons left the country.
Azerbaijan is among leading European countries in terms of natural population growth, which in turn contributes to the development of economy.
The "Azerbaijan 2020: Look into the future" Concept of Development reads that during the period covered by the concept, the country's population will increase by 1.1 per cent a year on average and is expected to total about 10.2 million in 2020.
