Penalties for misuse of state funds maybe increased

The penalties for misuse of budgetary and other public funds maybe increased in Azerbaijan.
Under the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (Article 308-1), for the admission of inappropriate use of the state budget, target budget funds and extra-budgetary funds a fine of 8,000 to 10,000 manats($4,666-$5,833) or imprisonment of up to 3 years is applied.
It is proposed to increase the amount of the fine from 9,000 to 13,000 manats ($5,250-$7,583).
The draft amendment was recommended to the plenary session of the Parliament.
