About 550 delegates and visitors from 30 countries have been invited to the three-day event to be held on the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad said.
President Aliyev and former Turkish president Suleyman Demirel as well as high-ranking government officials of Turkic states will also participate in the congress, the goal of which is to boost friendly ties and cooperation as well as to ensure exchange of information among Turkic states and communities. Representatives of Turkic communities of Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Northern Cyprus and Greece will attend. MPs, NGO leaders from the Americas, Siberia and Middle East as well as those of influential Azerbaijani and Turkish communities in foreign countries have been invited as well.

The attendees are expected to adopt a statement condemning resolution 106 calling the 1915 alleged mass killings of Armenians as "genocide", which was passed recently by the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.
