Gov't to develop concept of digital education

By Amina Nazarli

A concept of digital education will be developed in Azerbaijan under the Strategic Road Map for the development of information and communication technologies

In order to apply the system "Electronic school" in all schools of Azerbaijan, relevant government agencies will consider the possibility to establish a plan of activities, coordination of these activities from a single center and creation of a single database.

Under the document, for the development of digital education, courses, used at all levels of education, will be improved on the basis of high-quality electronic products (e-books, e-seminars, etc.) and related methods (distance learning, etc.).

Teachers and students will be provided with digital learning resources and equipment.

In order to provide technical support in the field of education, according to the Road Map, representatives of educational institutions will be kept informed about the educational technologies, and refresher courses will be organized in this framework.

During the planning of digital education activities, mechanisms for evaluation of students’ skills in the field of ICT, and the results of evaluation will be considered as a major factor.

The recent decree endorsing “Strategic road maps for the national economy and main economic sectors” signed by President Ilham Aliyev is aimed at defining the development goals and priorities and ensure their proper and timely implementation.

The strategic road maps cover almost all sectors of the economy, including, development of the oil and gas industry, the manufacture and processing of agricultural products, the manufacture of small and medium entrepreneurship-level consumer goods, development of heavy industry and machinery, tourism, logistics and trade, vocational education and training, financial services, communication and information technologies and utilities.
