Aliyev: Azerbaijan should be ready for war
"The war is not over yet, and only a temporary bargain has been
reached to cease fire. We should therefore be ready any time for
war, to liberate our land from the enemy," Aliyev said at the
opening of the Special State Security Service's Training
Center.
The commander-in-chief pledged that Azerbaijan would continue bolstering its military power. The country's defense spending will amount to $1.3 billion in 2008.
"Along with weaponry purchases, we will create our own defense industry complex," he said.
Whereas Azerbaijan's military budget made up $135 million in 2003, the figure will amount to $1 billion in 2007.
