The main stage of large-scale exercises with live-fire was held on November 16 as the drills entered the fifth day, the Defense Ministry reported.

Under the plan of the exercise, all branches of Azerbaijani Armed Forces started tactical actions to carry out the training and combat tasks with the practical use of weapons and equipment.

Characteristic features of these exercises are the efficiency of information gathering, its processing and considering the new challenges of rapidly changing situation with extensive use of electronic, computational, visual and other modern technology, which allows to have observation inland, at sea and in the sky.

Shootings and fire maneuver were carried out in different fire grounds, areas and other equipped places.

Moreover, combat readiness of aviation and military personnel, as well as the activities of the modern automated control systems of the Air Force were verified on November 15.

More than 50 aircrafts, which were put into a state of full combat readiness, made combat flights from alternative aerodromes. Aircraft raised in the sky performed tasks on prevention of enemy action and its fire damage at suddenly occurred targets.

The main stage of large-scale exercises with live-fire to run until November 18, conducted according to the plan approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev entered the fifth day.

The Azerbaijani Army, which today is considered the most modern army in the Caucasus, consists of Air Force and Air Defense Forces, the Navy, and the Land Forces. The skills and combat readiness of the Azerbaijani army are growing year by year. The army building process in Azerbaijan is progressing as well.

The country’s armed forces regularly conduct military exercises since Azerbaijan remains in a state of war with Armenia, as Armenian forces occupy a 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding regions.
