Georgian nationals are voting in the parliamentary elections at a polling station opened in Azerbaijan’s capital.

On the eve of the parliamentary elections in Georgia, a polling station was created in the Georgian embassy in Baku for the participation of the country’s nationals, who resides or works in Azerbaijan, in the elections, the embassy told Trend on October 8.

The polling station was opened at 08:00 local time (UTC/GMT+4) and the voting will continue until 20:00.

The results of the voting will be sent to Georgia’s Central Election Commission.

Parliamentary elections are being held in Georgia Oct. 8. There are 150 seats in the country’s legislative body. Members of the parliament (MP) are elected for a term of four years. Elections are held on a mixed electoral system – 77 people are elected on party lists (on the proportional system), 73 MPs – on single-seat electoral districts (on the majority system).

This is the first parliamentary elections after the entry into force of constitutional amendments that limit the president's rights and extend the powers of the prime minister and parliament.
