Mexican culture featured in Baku

By Amina Nazarli
Azerbaijan’s capital of Baku hosted an event dedicated to the Holidays of Mexico on August 22.
Supported by the Mexican Embassy and the VG Events Boutique company, the event sought to get the Azerbaijani audience acquainted with cultural traditions and the national cuisine of Mexico.
Mexican ambassador Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores addressed an
enthusiastic crowd, expressing his gratitude to the audience.
He said that the two countries have strong, friendly relations and
close cultural cooperation.
Guests got the opportunity to familiarize themselves with Mexican music and songs.
They also tasted the delicious dishes of Mexican cuisine and admired the fiery Latin American dances. Mexico`s cuisine was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010.
Relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan have continued for many years and are actively developing in all directions, including in culture. In 2012, Mexico hosted the Day of Azerbaijani culture.
Mexico recognized Azerbaijan's independence in 1991 and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1992.
Azerbaijan's Embassy in Mexico opened in 2006. Diplomatic representation of Mexico was established in Azerbaijan in 2014.
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations with Mexico.
Many documents were signed between the sides, including a Memorandum of Understanding on "Cooperation and inter-parliamentary dialogue." The document is aimed at serving as a legal basis for a new stage in the development of the two countries' inter-parliamentary relations.
