Chopin's memory to be commemorated in Baku

The event, devoted to the great composer and pianist Frederic Chopin will be held in the Niyazi’s apartment-museum on June 1.

The museum, which is a branch of the Musical Culture State Museum, is located in Bul Bul street 21, apartment 24.

During the event, famous art figures will talk about Chopin’s life and creative activity. The incredible compositions of the famous composer will also be performed at the evening.

Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist. The musical talent of Frederic became apparent extremely early on, and it was compared with the childhood genius of Mozart.

Both in his native Poland and beyond, Chopin's music, his status as one of music's earliest superstars, his association (if only indirect) with political insurrection, his love life and his early death have made him, in the public consciousness, a leading symbol of the Romantic era. His works remain popular, and he has been the subject of numerous films and biographies of varying degrees of historical accuracy.

Over 230 works from Chopin have survived; some compositions from early childhood have been lost. All his known works involve the piano, and only a few range beyond solo piano music, as either piano concertos, songs or chamber music.

Chopin took the new salon genre of the nocturne, invented by Irish composer John Field, to a deeper level of sophistication. He was the first to write ballades and scherzi as individual concert pieces.

Chopin also endowed popular dance forms with a greater range of melody and expression. Chopin's mazurkas, while originating in the traditional Polish dance, differed from the traditional variety in that they were written for the concert hall rather than the dance hall. It was Chopin who put the mazurka on the European musical map.
