3rd Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest to be held in Moscow

The 3rd Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest will be held in Moscow on October 18-19, 2014.

Leading opera singers, pop music stars, conductors of music theatres, recognized maestros of pop art and mass culture of different countries, as well as representatives of international production companies have been invited to the contest.

The Crocus City Hall will host the event, which will take place for two days and will be covered by Russian and international MSM and TV. The concert will be held on stage accompanied by symphony orchestra. Only live singing and orchestral accompaniment are compulsory for all contest performances. Any phonogram is excluded completely.

The Organizing Committee of the contest prepared special rewards for the winners of the competition. Thus, there are Grand-prix in amount of $30,000, the 1st prize includes gold medal and $25,000, the 2nd prize includes silver medal and $15,000, and the 3rd prize includes bronze medal and $10,000. All of the winners will get the title of laureate.

The Muslim Magomaev International Vocalists Contest is a competitive show for vocal singers capable to demonstrate their abilities, talent and mastery in performing both classic and popular repertoire. Professional singers who have special music education or students of music higher education institutions and colleges who send a request for participation, video materials and specified documents are admitted to the contest.

At the end of initial review, the Organizing Committee selects up to 15 performers and invite them to Moscow for taking part in the contest. Every admitted contestant is provided with two orchestra/ensemble rehearsals.

The first contest was held with a great success in Moscow in October 2010. The second time the event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the famous singer and was held also in Moscow in 2012. More than 200 young musicians from all around the world applied for the participation, but only 17 artists from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Germany, North Korea, Mongolia, Russia, USA, Ukraine and Uzbekistan participated in the event.

Prominent Azerbaijani opera and pop singer Muslim Magomayev, also known as the "King of Songs" and the "Soviet Sinatra" became famous in the USSR at the age of 19, after a stellar performance at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, and then, he became known in Europe after a successful performance at the Youth Festival in Helsinki, Finland.

Magomayev won the International Song Competition in Sopot, Poland and also won the first "Golden Disc" at the Cannes Music Festival with 4.5 million of his records sold that year in 1969. At age of 30, Magomayev was one of the youngest recipients of the highest artistic title, People's Artist of the USSR. He also received numerous awards for his contribution to opera and popular music in the Soviet Union.
