Azerbaijani books are presented at the prestigious 65th Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) for the sixth time.

The event, which is being held on October 9-13, was organized by Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

According to the ministry's spokesman Intigam Humbatov, the Azerbaijani stand was of interest on the opening day of the exhibition. The visitors paid special attention to the printed products at the skillfully designed corner.

Turkey's ambassador to Germany, the Turkish consul general in Frankfurt, representatives of the Turkish and Azerbaijani diaspora, and publishers were among the visitors.

The ministry representatives and Renessans and Sharg-Garb publishing houses are included in the Azerbaijani delegation attending the event.

The Azerbaijani stand was bigger this year. Azerbaijani books are exhibited at a 48 square meter area in the Messe Frankfurt exhibition township. Publications reflecting Azerbaijani history, culture, statehood, and Karabakh realities are presented at the stand designed with Maiden Tower and Fortress walls.

Elbey Ali, a representative of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism, cited Azerbaijan's active participation at the Frankfurt exhibition in recent years during his conversation with the international exhibition`s organizing committee manager for Central Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asian countries, Vladka Kupska.

The opportunities of broad cooperation and the possibility of Azerbaijan's participation as an honorary guest at the exhibition in the coming years was discussed at the event.

In turn, Kupska expressed her awareness about Azerbaijan`s successful development path, saying that the active participation of Azerbaijan at the Frankfurt exhibition will make a contribution to the promotion of the rich Azerbaijani culture.

Some 200 books, publications in Azerbaijani, English, German and Russian languages, brochures and other printed materials about the tourism opportunities of Azerbaijan are presented to the visitors of the country's stand.

Several presentations are scheduled during the exhibition.

Furthermore, an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev will be held on October 12 in the Azerbaijani pavilion at Frankfurter Buchmesse, with the participation of well-known public figures, German representatives of culture and art.

A book-album titled "in the name of Heydar Aliyev", released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will be presented as well.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is a venue for the industry's experts and the most important marketplace for books, media, rights and licences worldwide. Regardless of whether they are publishers, booksellers, agents, film producers or authors, each year in October, they all come together and create something new. The event brings together more than 7,000 exhibitors from 100 countries and approximately 300,000 visitors over five days.

The history of Frankfurt Book Fair dates back to the 15th century, when Johannes Gutenberg invented mechanical movable type printing.

In 1949, 205 German exhibitors assembled on September 18-23 in Frankfurt for the first post-war book fair.

More than 60 years later, Frankfurt Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the world, and the hallmark for global activities in the field of culture.
