Baku will host the second International Puppet Theater Festival bringing together leading puppet theaters of the world on November 9-16.

Along with plays, the festival will host master classes, which will be conducted by professionals from world-famous puppet theaters from about 20 countries.

Baku hosted the first International Puppet Theater Festival in November 2011. Following the festival, Azerbaijan became a member of the International Puppetry Association, or Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA).

Azerbaijan State Puppet Theatre was created in 1931, though the theater building was constructed as early as in 1908. The theater was established by Mollaga Babirli and the first performance was staged in 1932.

At present, the Theater performs in Azerbaijani and Russian languages for children and adults alike.
