New novel tells of 21st century’s grave crimes in Azerbaijan
BAKU – The second volume of "Elekechmezler" (The Elusives) political detective novel by well-known Azerbaijani writer Yusif Ahmadov has been published.
The book in Azeri describes the drug trafficking, terror and other crimes committed in 2006-2010 in Baku, Azerbaijani regions, in the Armenia-occupied Nagorno Karabakh region and its seven surrounding districts, as well as such crimes involving Azerbaijan committed abroad, particularly Iran.
Lead characters in the novel are the interior ministry’s former senior officials, including Col. Haji Mammadov, Gen. Zakir Nasirov, their gang consisting of people of various nationalities, as well as brave officers and privates of security agencies who fought against the outlaws.
Though the second volume of ""Elekechmezler" is a classical detective story, the writer gave a number of characters their real names, which made the novel more interesting and convincing. The writer skillfully describes a slew of crimes, some individuals’ conflict with society, intrigues, peculiarities of the crime world, the way organized criminals operate and their psychological characteristics.
The book contains a wide range of fascinating characters, shedding light on the dark side of life and covering various psychological situations while exercising an open-minded approach to the challenges facing society today. Trying to expose the negative side of present-day life, the writer successfully presents himself as "the critic of this time".
Yusif Ahmadov proved to be a vocal critic of social and at times political and economic shortfalls in society.
Ahmadov indicates in the book that despite all shortfalls, Azerbaijani power-wielding agencies are doing everything possible to ensure a tranquil life of the country’s citizens, and if necessary, the country’s valiant law enforcers are even ready to sacrifice their lives for this noble purpose.
