Baku declared center of Islamic culture for 2009
Baku has been declared the center of Islamic culture for 2009. A
relevant decision was passed at the fifth conference of the
Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) member states' culture
ministers held recently in the Libyan capital Tripoli.
Participants also agreed to hold the next conference of culture ministers in Baku in 2009, said chairman of the OIC youth organization Elshad Isgandarov.
"This is a good opportunity for broad propaganda of Baku in OIC member states," he said.
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev attended the conference.
