An exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of honored artist Rafael Abasov has opened at the National Art Museum.
Speaking at the event, First Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Vagif Aliyev noted the contribution of Rafael Abasov to the development of Azerbaijani art, Trend Life reported.
It was emphasized that Rafael Abasov, drawing still lifes, portraits, landscapes in the style of realism, contributed to the enrichment of the treasury of national art.
The artist with extraordinary skill created portraits of prominent political figures, representatives of science and art.
In his works, Abasov with great love celebrates the beauty of the nature of his native country. Among these works one can mention "Golden Autumn", "Gala", "Green Lake", "Night", "Bilgah" and many others.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Union of Artists, People’s Artist Farhad Khalilov, Rector of the State Academy of Arts, People’s Artist Omar Eldarov, People’s Artist Arif Huseynov and others told about the work of Rafael Abasov and his human qualities.
Rafael Abasov, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the event.
From 1960 to 1965, Rafael Abasov studied at the Azim Azimzade Azerbaijan State Art School. From 1968 to 1974, he studied at the M. Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (now the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts).
Since 1967, he is a participant of exhibitions held both in the country and abroad. In 1995, a personal exhibition of Rafael Abasov was held in Boston (USA). In 1997, the artist's personal exhibitions were successfully held in Austria and Germany.
Abasov's works are kept in private collections in Germany, USA, Austria, Japan, Turkey, as well as in the National Museum of Art of Azerbaijan and the Academy of Arts of Russia.
