Azerbaijani folk songs were formed in close connection with folk music. This is reflected in their structure. The basis of the lyrics is verse forms of folk poetry (bayati, goshma).
A distinctive feature of Azerbaijani folk songs is a clear formation of the word ending.
However, regardless of the number of verses in the song, they rhyme in pairs or three to four lines. In addition, the Azerbaijani folk songs are characterized by a kind of dramatization. This mainly refers to satirical and comic songs.
