A chamber concert and an exhibition of works by young artists were held in Azerbaijan Union of Composers on June 25 as part of the 9th Silk Way International Music Festival.
The event was attended by representatives of foreign countries represented at the festival, Trend Life reported.
In her speech at the evening, the artistic director of the festival, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Union of Composers of Azerbaijan, Firangiz Alizade stressed that Silk Way International Music Festival has become a significant city event in the country's cultural life.
The 10th International symposium of the research group "Magam" of the International Council for Traditional Music of UNESCO will be held within the framework of the festival.
The symposium will bring together representatives of 10 countries, including leading Azerbaijani scientists.
A particularly important event for the 9th Silk Way International Music Festival is the celebration of the 25th anniversary of TURKSOY in Sheki.
On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the International Organization of Turkic Culture which has been carrying out activities to foster cultural integration among Turkic peoples, explore their common culture and transmit it to future generations and promote it worldwide since its establishment will hold a concert in Baku on June 29th, 2018.
The concert which will take place under the motto "Pearls of the Turkic World" will feature artists of the Turkic World from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, etc., who will be performing selected works by composers of the Turkic World.
The closing ceremony of the 9th Silk Way International Music Festival will feature a concert dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of TURKSOY which will take place with the contribution of artists of the Turkic World.
Within the framework of activities held in Azerbaijan with the support of TURKSOY, the National Dance Award of TURKSOY will be handed over to its winner at the Second International Dance Competition named after the famous Azerbaijani dancer Gamar Almaszade which will feature performances of 39 dancers from Azerbaijan, the USA, Bulgaria, Spain, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.
The 9th Silk Way International Music Festival is organized by Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Azerbaijan Union of Composers and Sheki Executive Power.
